A simplified Doppler frequency shift (DFS) measurement approach based on Serrodyne optical translation is reported. sawtooth wave with high amplitude sent to one phase modulation arm of a Mach–Zehnder modulator in conjunction the transmitted signal implement translation, as well frequency-shifted carrier. The echo applied other modulator. lower first-order sidebands from are selected by an bandpass filter and detected photodetector. By measuring output low-frequency signal, value direction DFS can be determined. −100 100 kHz measured for 6- 17-GHz microwave signals error ±0.03 Hz stability ±0.015 30 min when 500-kHz used.

Realization of fiber-based laser Doppler vibrometer with serrodyne frequency shifting.

We demonstrate a laser Doppler vibrometer (LDV) based on the serrodyne frequency shifting technique. A proof-of-principle system is implemented on the basis of fiber-optic components but opens the way toward an ultracompact integrated LDV system on a silicon chip. With a low laser power of 50  μW, the serrodyne LDV was able to measure submicrometer vibrations with frequencies in the audio range.
